Bangladesh has exported 60 tons of hilsa fish to India from Barisal in several consignments on the occasion of the upcoming Durga Puja.
Nirab Hossain Tutul, a leading hilsa exporter and owner of Mahima Enterprise, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Sunday afternoon.
Bangladesh exported these large consignments of hilsa till 10:00pm on Saturday night by four authorized export companies, located at Port Road in Barisal city.
Earlier, 52 tons of hilsa were sent to India in three consignments.
According to the order, issued by the Ministry of Commerce, the export of hilsa from Bangladesh to India will remain in effect, subject to conditions, until September 30.
