3-day pharmaceuticals expo from March 2

A three-day "14th Asia Pharma Expo 2023" will be held on March 2-4 in Dhaka.

It will showcase latest pharmaceutical products, manufacturing and packaging machinery and laboratory supplies from local and international brands.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque will inaugurate the expo as chief guest.

Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries (BAPI) and GPE Expo are jointly organizing the international pharmaceutical exhibition on complete pharma manufacturing and technologies at the International Convention Centre, Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka.

More than 600 pharmaceutical companies from 30 countries, including the USA, China, the UK, Germany, Malaysia, India, Thailand, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, Taiwan and host Bangladesh, will participate in the expo.

The participants will exhibit a wide range of products and services related to pharmaceutical processing and packaging machinery, biotech lab equipment, API and bulk drugs plants and manufacturing, pharmaceutical formulation and contract manufacturing.

After meeting 98% of the domestic demand for medicines, Bangladesh is now exporting the surplus to more than 152 countries around the world including the regulated market of USA, Europe, Canada and Australia, according to BAPI.

Bangladesh has been considered as the largest producer of finished formulations amongst least developed countries (LDCs) and continued exploration of markets for the Bangladeshi pharma products confirmed its strong presence in the competitive global market.

The country initiated some positive steps such as 20% cash incentive on exporting Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) and 10% cash incentive on export of finished formulations, a document mentioned.
