Prices of the US dollar against the Taka were stable in the open market, or kerb market, on Tuesday, selling between Tk96.7 and Tk97.
It was sold at the same price in the kerb market on Monday as well.
Money exchangers were purchasing dollars at Tk96-96.40, several money exchangers in the capital's Motijheel and Naya Paltan area said.
"A large portion of our buyers are expatriates. Due to the government and Bangladesh Bank imposing restrictions on government officials and bank officials going abroad, the number of people flying overseas is comparatively less. So, the sale of dollars is less low," said a money exchanger.
However, they were still selling dollars from their stock.
Another money changer said that most of them purchased dollars in bulk, fearing that its prices would spike further.
Due to low demand, many companies have not yet been able to sell those dollars. So, the price is stable, he added.
