Fresh Tissue, a brand of Meghna Group of Industries (MGI), on Sunday launched a nationwide breast cancer awareness campaign- "Fresh Bangladesh" to raise awareness on breast cancer.
Keeping International Women’s Day 2022 in mind, Fresh Tissue will conduct a nationwide awareness campaign with free breast screening activities along with a doctor and a sonologist in different districts of Bangladesh from a mobile clinic, said a press release.
Based on the online pre-registration, a limited number of free breast screening activities will be conducted during the specific day at the particular location in the specific district.
The campaign was officially launched at a Gulshan hotel in the capital.
Media personality and social activist Shampa Reza, who has been raising awareness about breast cancer in Bangladesh for a long time, attended as adviser of the campaign.
Dr Sharmin Akter Sumi, a breast cancer survivor, and a specialist doctor were present as special guests.
Md Yeasin Mollah, senior DGM (Sales), Meghna Pulp and Paper Mills Ltd, Shafiur Rahman, honorable advisor (MGI), and Kazi Md Mohiuddin, senior general manager (Brand), MGI were also present at the "Fresh Bangladesh" inauguration ceremony.
According to World Health Organization (WHO) statistics, approximately 2.1 million women worldwide are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, with more than 15,000 diagnosed in Bangladesh.
However, if detected at an early stage, lives can be saved with proper treatment, which needs awareness.
