Youth Policy Forum (YPF) launched a flagship program titled “YPF Governance Apprenticeship” on Friday to empower the youth in statecraft for a better-governed Bangladesh.
A team of young researchers will be recruited from YPF’s expansive policy networks and appointed as apprentices for politicians under the program designed to create a collaborative exchange of knowledge between youths and incumbent policymakers, according to a press release.
The platform will allow young policy enthusiasts to delve into the world of policymaking and come out with invaluable experiences and a deep understanding of the practical challenges and considerations involved in statecraft.
It will also provide politicians with much-needed research support.
The first phase of the project commenced with 11 mentors on board – Planning Minister MA Mannan, Saber Hossain Chowdhury, MP, Ahasanul Islam Titu, MP, Waseqa Ayesha Khan, MP, Nahim Razzaq, MP, Rumeen Farhana, MP, DNCC mayoral candidate of BNP Tabith Awal, DSCC mayoral candidate of BNP Ishraque Hossain, Shameem Haider Patwary, MP, Mokkabir Khan, MP, and Ganasanghati Andolon Chief Coordinator Zonayed Saki.
From YPF’s side Akhtar Mahmood, Mushfiq Mobarak, Md Abir Hasan, Aamer Moshtaque Ahmed, Mastura Tasnim, Yasin Ahmed, and Chowdhury Albab Kadir were present among others.
The planning minister reflected that while Bangladesh is ahead in terms of policy formulation, it needs to do better when it comes to implementation.
He highlighted the importance of YPF working as an independent organization.
Md Abir Hasan praised the hopeful atmosphere of the session, adding that: “This is one humble step for YPF, but one big leap for our society.”
