Bangladesh is likely to experience widespread rain and thunderstorms until August 3 as active monsoon conditions continue to influence the country's weather.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said the monsoon will remain active over Bangladesh during the period, bringing widespread rainfall accompanied by temporary gusty winds. The prevailing weather pattern is expected to continue beyond the three-day forecast, with rainfall activity likely to persist across the country.
According to the BMD's 120-hour weather bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely across much of the country, with moderately heavy rainfall expected in several areas.
On August 1, rain or thundershowers are likely at many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions, while Rajshahi and Khulna divisions may receive rainfall at a few places. Moderately heavy rainfall is likely in parts of the country. Day temperatures may rise slightly, while night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.
On August 2, many areas in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions are likely to experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers, while Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Dhaka divisions may receive showers at a few places. Isolated areas may witness moderately heavy rainfall. Day temperatures are expected to remain almost unchanged, while night temperatures may rise slightly.
On August 3, the wet spell is expected to become more widespread, with rain and thundershowers forecast at most places in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions. Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Dhaka divisions may also receive showers at several locations. Moderately heavy rainfall is likely in parts of the country, while both day and night temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged.
The BMD advised people, particularly those living in low-lying and flood-prone areas, to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and take necessary precautions during periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms.
