Heavy rain accompanied by hail disrupted daily life and commutes across parts of the capital Dhaka on Wednesday, leaving residents facing widespread inconvenience.
The sky remained overcast from the afternoon across various parts of the city. By evening, dark clouds blanketed the capital before gusty winds and rainfall began around 8pm. Hail was also reported in some areas, adding to the disruption.
The sudden downpour affected movement on roads, with commuters and pedestrians experiencing difficulties amid the inclement weather.
According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), temporary gusty winds along with rain or thundershowers may occur in Dhaka and other parts of the country. The forecast also indicated a possibility of hail in some areas.
Meteorologists noted that such weather conditions are typical during the pre-monsoon period. They also urged people to remain cautious due to the risk of lightning during thunderstorms.
