Rohingyas call for safe return to Myanmar in peaceful assemblies

Rohingya Muftis and scholars organized gatherings in Cox’s Bazar's Kutupalong refugee camp and other camps in Ukhiya on Wednesday.

These assemblies, held throughout the day, saw thousands of Rohingyas coming together. The gatherings called for unity among all Rohingyas to ensure a safe and dignified repatriation to their homeland.

At the assemblies, Rohingya leaders said that displaced Rohingyas are ready to return to their country if their citizenship rights and security are guaranteed, thus freeing them from their life as refugees.

Under the leadership of Rohingya leader Dil Mohammed, speakers at the assembly included Abu Alam, Abdul Rahim, Rohingya community leader Jubayer, Maulvi Rahmat Karim, Anwar Sadeq, and Master Mujib.

The speakers emphasized that the genocide committed by Myanmar's junta against the Rohingyas demands justice. They appealed to the international community to address their plight, ensuring citizenship rights, safety, and a dignified repatriation process for the Rohingya people.

From the morning, Rohingyas began gathering at the venue from various camps, and by the afternoon, the area had turned into a sea of people.

Confirming the details, Master Mohammad Jubair, President of the Arakan Rohingya Society for Peace and Human Rights, said: "There was no specific occasion or objective. It was a spontaneous gathering of Rohingya scholars and community members, growing from small to large."

"The assembly was peaceful and driven by heartfelt emotions. We deeply wish to return to our country, but we lack the means to do so. Returning to Myanmar is our right as citizens, and we call upon the international community to support us in reclaiming our homeland," he added.
