5 Rohingyas held with arms in Cox’s Bazar

APBn members seized a number of sharp and blunt weapons from the alleged criminals

Armed Police Battalion (APBn) have detained five suspected Rohingya criminals in Ukhiya upazila of Cox's Bazar.

The arrestees have been identified as Omar Farooq, 19, his father Muktar Ahmed, 50, Md Salim, 38, Md Arafat, 25, and Mansur Alam, 25. 

They were all apprehended from the Balukhali Rohingya camp on Monday morning.

These men are suspected to be members of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA), according to a press release issued by APBn-8.

Acting on a tip-off, a special APBn team conducted a drive in the camp and apprehended the suspects who were reportedly preparing for a robbery, said the release.

The team seized six machetes, two knives and eight iron rods from their possessions.

A case has been filed against them with the Ukhiya police station.
