Police in Cox’s Bazar have arrested a man who investigators say ordered the assassination of Rohingya leader Md Mohib Ullah.
Fifty-five-year-old Zakaria, who is being described as the leader of a unit of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA), was arrested on Saturday night after a four-month manhunt, Superintendent Naimul Haque of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) told a media call on Sunday.
“Zakaria had a dispute with Mohib Ullah and is believed to be the mastermind of the killing. He went into hiding following the murder,” said the senior police officer.

So far, 15 people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Mohib Ullah. Of them, four people have given confessional statements in court.
Zakaria started living in Lambasia Rohingya camp in 2017. According to investigators, he has been serving as chief of an ARSA wing for the Kutupalong Rohingay camp since 2020.
Mohib Ullah, chairman of the Arakan Rohingya Society for Peace and Human Rights (ARSPH), was shot dead at a Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar on September 29, 2021.
