Four vessels carrying 12 days’ diesel supply set to arrive at Chittagong port

Four vessels carrying a combined 141,000 tonnes of diesel, the largest such shipment since the onset of the ongoing Middle East conflict, are set to arrive at Chittagong Port, officials said.

The consignment is expected to meet the country’s diesel demand for approximately 12 days.

Of the four tankers, three MT Oak Tree, MT Cape Bonny and MT Lian Song Hu, are scheduled to reach the port’s outer anchorage on Friday. The remaining vessel, MT Golden Horizon, is expected to arrive on Sunday.

Port authorities said all necessary preparations have been completed to receive the vessels and will begin unloading operations immediately upon their arrival.

Nazrul Islam, managing director of Pride Shipping Lines, the local agent for the tankers, said the vessels are likely to arrive as scheduled and discharge operations will commence without delay.

According to officials at the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC), the country’s daily diesel demand is around 12,500 tonnes. Based on this estimate, the incoming shipment will be sufficient to meet demand for approximately 12 days.
