DCs asked to ensure discipline in fuel supply, distribution

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit has instructed district commissioners (DCs) across the country to take necessary steps to maintain discipline in the supply and marketing of fuel oil.

The directive was issued on Sunday following a review of the ongoing situation in the energy sector, according to the Energy and Mineral Resources Division.

Earlier in the day, a press release issued after a meeting at the Secretariat said the government had taken several decisions to address the fuel supply situation, which has been affected by disruptions in global supply chains due to the ongoing Iran–Israel conflict.

The statement added that several vessels carrying imported fuel oil have already arrived at Chittagong Port.

Considering the upcoming Eid travel and the needs of farmers during the Boro cultivation season, the government has decided to lift all restrictions, including rationing, on the distribution of fuel oil.

Until further notice, fuel will be distributed based on demand from all distribution points starting Sunday, the statement said.
