‘Acute crisis of youngsters in energy sector’

Speaking on a Facebook live message from the page of Young Bangla on Thursday, the state minister said that most bright youngsters seek career opportunities abroad.
Nasrul said: “Brain drain is a major limitation of our country. We have to create more attractions for the brilliant students.”
Around 2900 people viewed the live feed where the state minister took questions from viewers regarding the gas crisis, Rampal power plant and other energy related issues.
In response to a question, Nasrul said: “Five thousand factories cannot be given gas connections as we are in acute crisis.” He also mentioned that the government plans to import liquefied natural gas (LNG) by 2018.
In answer to questions about Rampal issue, Nasrul said that the project was being coloured politically.
“We are also installing power plants with help of China, Korea and some other countries. But nobody raises questions about them,” he said.
About maximising use of renewable energies, the state minister said: “Base-load power plants cannot be installed with solar energy.” He added that the government is working on distributing power in rural areas through solar powered mini-grids.
Nasrul also mentioned that a project that would produce power from wastes is underway.
In response to another question, he said that prices of fuel cannot be lowered due to rise in price in international market.
