Guns drawn, false flag tactics employed

Fake poll agents were allegedly installed at several centres at Mir Hajibagh in South Jatrabari, in a novel use of false flag tactics. Such ruses allow instigators to claim the polls were properly monitored, when in fact those present are actually members of the same side.

At Tamirul Millat Kamil Madrasah, fake agent Wahidurrahman said he was unaware the BNP had pulled out of the race, while eating lunch bought by AL-backed Sayeed Khokon’s camp.

Fake poll agent, Josna Begum, installed at the Girl’s Primary School in Mir Hajibagh, also did not know the BNP had withdrawn, two hours after it was publicly announced.

Elsewhere, BCL men stole ballot papers at gunpoint from Assistant Presiding Officer Amirul Islam at Samirunnesa School in Shamibagh.

Voting at Suritola Model Primary School and Kabi Nazrul Government College was suspended following vandalism.

At Shahid Zia Girls School in Uttar Jatrabari, Presiding Officer Faruk Niyaz said voting was complete at 11am and closed the centre’s doors to voters.
