A polling agent for Dhaka North mayoral candidate Zonayed Saki has been asked to leave the polling centre at Uttara High School.
Omar Chowdhury, the polling agent, told the Dhaka Tribune that voting was going on peacefully at the centre since Tuesday morning.
"I came out of the booth around 12pm to check email on my mobile phone. Then a police officer asked me why I was using phone and asked me to stay inside the booth," he said.
He said: "The police officer seized my phone and asked me not to leave the booth until the polling ends. At that time senior presiding officer of the centre told me that it would be better if I leave the booth."
Then Omar Chowdhury left the booth.
Dhaka city unit Political Affairs Secretary of Students' Federation Refat Salam told the Dhaka Tribune: "We think polls are not being held in a fair manner. We will sit in an internal meeting and then brief the media about our decision."
