Voting at Kabi Nazrul College suspended

Voting at Kabi Nazrul Government College centre has been suspended as the voters fled the spot following a clash between the two groups of Awami League backed candidates at the centre.

The two groups threw bricks aiming each other and vandalised ballot boxes around 12:25pm Tuesday.

Police fired two rounds of tear gas shells to bring the situation under control.

However, Kabi Nazrul Government College unit Chhatra League Secretary Rakibul Islam said: “The supporters of BNP-backed candidate of ‘Tiffin Carrier’ symbol tried to occupy the centre and attack the centre. We just tried to prevent them.”

Earlier in the day, polling at three stations under Suritola Model Primary School has been suspended following vandalism at the centre around 9:30am.
