The Election Commission yesterday allocated symbols for the mayoral candidates in the elections to Dhaka north and south and Chittagong city corporations.
In Dhaka North, Awami League-backed mayoral candidate Annisul Huq got table clock as his symbol and BNP-backed candidate Tabith M Awal got bus after a lottery as both had wanted table clock.
Returning Officer Shah Alam distributed the symbols among the candidates at his office at Agargaon.
Jatiya Party leader Bahauddin Ahmed got Charka, Bikalpadhara Bangladesh leader Mahi B Chowdhury got eagle, Gono Sanghati Andolan’s Zonayed Saki telescope.
Communist Party of Bangladesh-backed Abdul Al Kafi got elephant and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-backed Nader Chowdhury peacock.
In Dhaka South, AL-backed candidate Sayeed Khokon was given Ilish and BNP-backed Mirza Abbas was given mug.
Returning Officer Mihir Sarwar Morshed distributed the symbols.
