BNP leader Abdus Salam has quit the race in Dhaka South City Corporation polls scheduled to be held on April 28.
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Returning Officer Mihir Sarwar Morshed told the Dhaka Tribune: “BNP leader Abdus Salam has withdrawn his candidacy from the poll around 4:15pm Thursday.”
Abdus Salam collected nomination form for contesting the mayoral race in the upcoming Dhaka South City Corporation polls on March 25.
However, like many other BNP leaders, Salam is also currently on the run to avoid arrest in the ongoing security crackdown.
