The ruling Awami League will hold a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on March 7 to celebrate the historic day.
AL Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif made the announcement at a press conference at party president Sheikh Hasina's Dhanmondi office in the capital on Monday evening.
Earlier, a joint meeting among Awami League central leaders, party's city units’ leaders, and its affiliated organisations' leaders was held.
As part of various programmes, the party leaders will pay tribute at Bangabandhu's memorial at Dhanmondi in the morning of March 7and a rally will start at 3pm.
Awami League President also Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will join the rally as chief guest, said Hanif.
On March 7 in 1971, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman delivered a historic speech at Suhrawardy Udyan (the then Race Course Maidan), urging people to join the Liberation War against the Pakistani army.
