The recent subversive activities by the BNP-Jamaat alliance during the hartal and blockade have caused a loss of over Tk1.2 trillion to the country.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made the remark on Wednesday in the parliament in replying to a question by treasury bench member also the Jessore 2 MP, Md Monirul Islam, reports BSS.
The premier said destructive acts caused damage to financial loss of over Tk1.2 trillion in the fields of trade, commerce, export and other sectors.
She said 1,173 vehicles were torched and vandalised by the blockade supporters, who also set fire to six launches and carried out subversive acts on trains for 25 times.
“Some 101 people were already been killed, mostly in petrol bombs, over the last 52 days.”
Besides, more than 1,000 people were critically injured in various subversive acts including petrol bomb attacks by the blockaders, she added.
Sheikh Hasina alleged that aspiration for grabbing power made Khaleda, chairperson of BNP, so blind that she did not hesitated murdering innocent working people and destroying prosperities of the mass people.
The PM said burning people to death is the cruellest form of killing and such efforts of grabbing the state power can never be an ideology of any political party.
She warned the Khaleda saying "Stop killing and terrorism, otherwise, we would take stern action against such heinous activities. These activities are the crimes amounting to capital punishment."
