Jamaat has called a day-long strike for Sunday in Barisal protesting the arrest of district (west) Amir Habibur Rahman.
The declaration was made in a press statement, signed by Nasiruddin, city Jamaat's publicity secretary, issued on Friday evening.
Barisal Metropolitan Police on Thursday afternoon arrested Habibur Rahman, Amir of Barisal district (west) Jamaat.
Azad Rahman, assistant commissioner of Barisal Metropolitan Police, said Habibur Rahman is wanted in seven cases under special power and explosive acts.
