Police have arrested 30 BNP-Jamaat men from three upazilas of the Meherpur in separate drives.
They were arrested following apprehension of sabotage activities during the ongoing blockade and general strike enforced by the BNP-led opposition alliance, Meherpur Additional Police Superintendent Azbehar Ali Sheikh told the Dhaka Tribune.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted separate drives and arrested seven from Sadar police station, 10 from Mujibnagar and the rest 13 from Gangni police station.
All of them were involved in BNP and Jamaat-e-Islam, police said.
At least 65 BNP-Jamaat leaders, activists have been detained from the district since January 5.
