Shamsher Mobin sent to jail after remand

A Dhaka court yesterday sent BNP Vice-Chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury to jail when police produced him before it ending a five-day remand in a case filed over the attack on AL MP Chhabi Biswas on December 24.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shariar Mahmud Adnan passed the order following Shahbagh police showed him before his court mentioning that Shamser needs to be kept in jail for the sake of proper investigation.

Earlier on January 10, Metropolitan Magistrate Emdadul Haque granted the remand against a 10-day remand plea from police. On the previous day, plain-clothes police arrested the BNP leader from his Banani Old DOHS residence. 

On December 24, BNP and AL activists locked in fierce clash with one another centring BNP Chairperson’s Khaleda Zia’s appearance to a Bakshibazar court in the Zia Orphanage and Zia Charitable Trust Graft cases.

During the clash, lawmaker Chhabi Biswas had been assaulted near Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Shahbagh police filed the case.
