BNP leader Shajahan among 6 remanded

A Dhaka court yesterday placed six leaders of the 20-party alliance on remand of different terms in a case filed for blasting hand bombs in Gulshan area of the capital.

Metropolitan Magistrate Rezaul Karim ordered four days’ remand each for Belal Ahmed, Monirul Haque and Habibur Rahman Habib and two-day remand for BNP Noakhali BNP chief and central committee Joint Secretary General Md Shajahan, Shamimur Rahman and Jatiya party (Kazi Jafar) leader Ahsan Habib Linkon.

The court also rejected their bail petitions, filed by defence counsel Taherul Islam Towhid.

Earlier in the day, Sub-Inspector Md Abdul Barik of Gulshan police produced them before the court seeking 10-day remand.

The six people were held on Monday from different parts of the capital and shown arrested in the case.
