Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the Awami League President, has been addressing a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital marking Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s homecoming day on January 10.
The rally began at 2:30pm on Monday with the presence of thousands of leaders and activists of ruling Awami League and its associate organisations.
“BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was not confined to her office. She can leave her office if she wishes,” the PM said.

Hasina alleged that BNP does not believe in the independence of Bangladesh. So, they never want the development of the country and they create anarchy in the name of blockade, hartal that people do not support.
Earlier in the day, the ruling Awami League had obtained a conditional permission from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to hold the gathering.
The decision comes within a week of the police banning rallies and processions in Dhaka as the BNP and Awami League were set to hold major events on Jan 5 marking one year of the national election.
