A person named Kamrul Hasan yesterday announced that a new BNP will be formed soon.
Kamrul, who is a completely unknown face in the country’s politics, yesterday made the announcement at press conference at the Lakeshore Hotel in the capital. Interestingly, only a selected few journalists from a handful of media houses were invited to the conference.
“The BNP led by Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman is illegal. To revive Ziaur Rahman’s BNP, here is an initative to form a new BNP,” he said. He also said their formal announcement will come on January 16; on that day, they will also disclose who are with the “new BNP.”
Assuring that there is no government agency behind them, Hasan claimed that most senior leaders of the current BNP will join his New BNP. He also said the government’s target to turning Bangladesh into a middle-income country by 2041 was funny.
A circulated was signed by Javed Omar Rabbi, who claimed himself as someone from the “crisis moment of the party.” Around a hundred young men – wearing lungi and slippers – were present at the programme.
