'Sand-laden trucks belong to Khaleda's contractor'

The sand-laden trucks, placed in front of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's Gulshan office since Sunday night, belong to the chairperson's contractor, a minister has claimed.

Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, minister for Disaster Management and Relief, made the claim while talking to a private television station on Monday morning.

He said: “Neither Awami League nor the law enforcers have kept the sand-laden trucks in front of Khaleda's office.”

Mentioning that some renovation works might be continued at Khaleda's house, the minister said. “Her contractor might have placed the sand-laden trucks there.”

“Whenever there is an incident some sand-laden trucks are placed.”

Claiming that people are celebrating the Victory Day of Democracy, Maya said: “Khaleda Zia was forcibly trying to fight. But the people of the country did not response to her."

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is being confined inside her Gulshan party office since Saturday midnight. Four sand-laden trucks have been positioned on either side of Khaleda's office since Sunday night. Police also locked the main gate of Khaleda's office on Monday afternoon.

However, Monirul Islam, joint commissioner at the DMP and also its spokesperson, told journalists that Khaleda is not confined.
