On Saturday, Rizvi spoke to the press at the party’s Naya Paltan office.
Rizvi said his party was still waiting for police permission to stage the rally but police is being them about the November 7 rally permissions.
He said, “The law enforcement agencies working for the government act like ruling party men.”
He showing the request letter of the permission for the rally and said: “On yesterday we submitted our request to hold the rally in front of our party office. But police claimed they did not receive the letter.”
“It is very irresponsible and biased of the police to refuse permission to hold our rally,” he added.
Government is using the police to arrest our party members to create panic among the general public.
On Saturday afternoon, police arrested five BNP leaders including Taiful Islam Tipu, assistant office secretary of BNP central office.
Earlier Rizvi said, BNP is committed to holding its planned November 8 rally on the Suhrawardy Udyan grounds "at any cost".
He alleged that because of BNP’s planned events surrounding November 7, which BNP observes as ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day’, the security services have been detaining party activists en masse.
