Relief and Disaster Management Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya said the BNP would have to take part in the next general election under the ruling Awami League led 14-party alliance government as per the constitution.
“The present government will stay in power for four more years and the national election will be held in 2019 as per the constitution,” he said addressing a rally at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city yesterday.
Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Sramik League (BSPSL) organised the rally to protest the defamatory remarks on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He said there was no scope of grabbing power by hatching conspiracy and killing people, adding that the BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was playing the role of the Aamir of Jamaat-e-Islami.
He remarked that the BNP would turn into another Muslim League, if Jamaat-Shibir did not remain with her.
“Begum Khaleda Zia wants to make Bangladesh a dysfunctional state. For that reason, mother and son together have resorted to falsehood,” he said.
“Anarchy and violence will not be tolerated in the name of demonstration,” he warned.
