Amu : Govt to take action against troublemakers

The government will take stern action against the troublemakers who will try to infringe people's fundamental rights in any way, said Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Friday.

The minister said this while speaking at a conference of Ranapasha Union unit of Awami League at Nolcity Jhalokathi, BSS reports.

He said: "It is the responsibility of the government to ensure citizens' fundamental rights . . . No unruly and destructive activities in the name of anti-government movement will be allowed in Bangladesh." Amu also criticised the unruly activities of BNP and Jamaat men, who tried to launch movement in the streets to foil the January 5 general election.

The senior Awami League leader alleged that BNP-Jamaat unleashed a reign of terror throughout the country and started mass-killing to destroy the constitutional continuity.

After assuming office, Sheikh Hasina brought the situation under control, he added. He said the BNP and Jamaat alliance has been isolated from the people and as the (people) won't respond to the call of movement against the government. Ranapasha Union AL president Mojibur Rahman Mina presided over the meeting.  District AL President Sardar Mohammad Shah Alam, Nolcity Upazila Chairman M Yunuch Laskor, Upazila AL President Taslim Uddin Chowdhury and Ranapasha Union Parishad Chairman Abdus Salm , among others, spoke on the occasion. Later, Ranapasha union committee of Bangladesh Awami League was formed with Abdul Hamid Molla as its president and Abdul Khaleq master as general secretary.
