Jubo League men rampage over fellow's death

Jubo League activists have set the residence of BCL Sharsha unit president on fire at Nabharan Bazar of the upazila following the death of a injured leader of the wing.

The angry activists of the youth wing of ruling Awami League also torched the houses of three relatives of BCL Sharsha unit president Rahim on Monday morning.

Tozom, 40, assistant organising secretary of Sharsha unit of Jubo League, has succumbed to his injuries in the morning. He was injured in a clash between Chhatra League over a mobile phone snatching incident on Thursday.

The Jubo League activists got furious when they heard about the death in the morning and blocked the road for one hour.

Joint Secretary of Sharsha upazila Awami League Md Ibrahim said: “I heard that Jubo League supporters torched Rahim and his three relatives' houses.”

Being informed about the fire incident, two fire fighter units from Sharsha and Jhikorgacha rushed to the spot but the angry activists resisted them.

Locals and witnesses said at least five people have been injured in the incident.

However, Sharsha police station duty officer Shahidar Rahman said no causalities were reported in the incident.
