Opposition Leader Rawshan Ershad once again lauded Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in parliament for the latter’s “quality” role in advancing the country “towards prosperity” and her achievements in running the government.
Rawshan first complained that the opposition had been placing suggestions in parliament but the government kept ignoring. But immediately the Jatiya Party leader started praising the prime minister and the government.
“Bangabandhu and Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman brought independence for the country. He was a great leader. Now you [Hasina] will have to lead to bring prosperity for the country in his absence,” Rawshan said amid clapping and thumping of both treasury and opposition MPs.
“You are the daughter of Bangabandhu who had dreamt of building a prosperous Bangladesh. Now you have to fulfil Bangabandhu’s dreams and there is no alternative to you for implementing this,” the former first lady said.
Rawshan started by lauding the prime minister for wining the South-South Cooperation Visionary Award, Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and Awami League lawmaker Saber Hossain Chowdhury for their victory in the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and Inter Parliamentary Union elections.
She said only the Awami League could lead the country towards prosperity.
She said employment and investment were necessary for the country’s development and stressed the need for decentralisation of the administration to save Dhaka.
