N’ganj Jubo League man killed in AL-BNP clash

A Jubo League activist has been hacked to death in a clash between the activists of Awami Leauge and BNP in Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj.

The deceased was identified as Amjad Hossain Mollah, 45.

Quoting local sources UNB said some Awami League activists tore off a poster of Nazrul Islam Azad, international affairs secretary of Jubo Dal central committee a few days back.

Following the incident, the BNP activists also tore off a festoon of local AL leader Nazrul Islam Babu, also an MP.

The two rival groups, as a sequel, equipped with firearms and sharp weapons engaged in a series of clashes at Duptar Bazar on Sunday morning.

At one point, Jubo League activist Amjad Hossain Mollah was severely stabbed by the opponents.

Critically injured Amjad was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, 10 people of both the groups were severely injured in the clashes.

Later, police went to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Officer-in-Charge of Araihazar police station Alamgir Hossain said additional police personnel have been deployed in the area to tackle any further untoward incident.

Vehicular movement on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway was cut off due to the clashes between 11am and 12am.
