Local AL alleges harassment by Sajeda’s son

They raised the allegation against Aimon Akbar Chowdhury Bablu, also assistant personal secretary of Sajeda, at a press conference in the district press club yesterday. The activists and leaders are being forced to leave the locality, facing false cases and physical attacks by the followers of Bablu, according to local AL. They alleged that he is promoting a section in the party, who have come from the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami. They also alleged that Bablu had established a reign of terror in the area by forming a mafia led by Samsul Haque, assistant police super of Bhanga Circle, and DM Belayet Hossain, officer-in-charge of Saltha police station. The syndicate controls different projects of the government and drug business in the locality, they said in their written statement. Chowdhury Sabbir Hossain, organising secretary of Saltha Awami League, read out the statement. Md Delwar Hossain, former president of local AL, and around 50 AL men were present at the press conference. They urged for the intervention of Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina and General Secretary Obaidul Quader in the matter. The Dhaka Tribune tried to contact Bablu over phone but he did not receive the calls.
