Ahle Sunnat to besiege home ministry

Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat will lay siege to the home ministry on Tuesday, demanding the arrest of Abdul Latif Siddique within 48-hour.

Advocate Morshed Uddin Boktiar, member secretary of the party, made the announcement at a press briefing on Monday afternoon.

“Latif has returned to Bangladesh because of his understanding with the government," he claimed.

Earlier, Latif returned to country on Sunday night amid warrants for his arrest.

Upon his arrival at the airport’s VIP lounge he was kept under surveillance of immigration police.

Later, the police let him go around 9:30pm.

A total of four arrest warrants have so far been issued by different Dhaka courts against Latif Siddique for hurting the countrymen’s religious sentiment by making controversial remarks on hajj and Tablig.

On September 28, during a programme in the USA, Latif Siddique made derogatory comments on hajj, ijtema and PM’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.

At the programme organised by the Tangail Samity at a hotel in New York, Latif said he was against hajj and Tabligh Jamaat more than he was against Jamaat-e-Islami.
