At least three Jubo League leaders were killed yesterday in Rangpur, Lakshmipur and Rajshahi districts.
Our Rangpur correspondent reports: Unidentified miscreants hacked a local Jubo League leader to death at Mahiganj in Satmatha area of the district. The deceased was Imran Miah, 28, ward 2 secretary of Juba league’s district unit.
Sources said a group of miscreants hacked indiscriminately with sharp weapons when he went out of a hotel around 1am. He was rushed to Rangpur Medical College Hospital in a critical condition where on-duty doctors declared him dead. The locals and Jubo League activists blocked Rangpur-Kurigram highway in protest against the killing.
According to Lakshmipur correspondent, a Jubo League leader was chopped by a gang of unidentified criminal in Gopinathpur under Sadar upazila.
The victim Mohon Patwari, 37, was a Jubo League member of South Hamchadi Union of the Lakshmipur Sadar upazila.
Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Iqbal Hossain said around six masked miscreants hacked and killed Mohon.
Our Rajshahi correspondent said a Jubo League leader was killed at Chandpur village of Mohonpur upazila in the district. The deceased was Shamsul Haque, 30, the Jubo League president of Chandpur upazila.
