Police have detained five Shibir activists at Jaintapur sadar upazila area on Saturday noon.
The detainees are Selim Jahangir, Jewel Ahmed, Shahriar Alam, Abdullah al Mamun and Numan Ahmed.
The law enforcers held them following a rally in support of hartal called by Jamaat-e-Islami protesting the death sentence to Jamaat Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami.
Harunur Rashid Chowdhury, officer-in-charge of Jaintapur police station, said Shibir activists brought out a rally at sadar upazila area at 12pm.
On information, police rushed to the spot and dispersed the rally. At that time, they detained five Shibir activists, a students’ wing of Jamaat-e-Islam.
