Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad yesterday predicted that his party would come to power next time as the country’s people wanted to see a change.
“The citizens now want to get rid of the two major political parties [the Awami League and the BNP]. They want alternative… They want change. So, Jatiya Party will fulfil the people’s expectations after assuming power in future,” he said.
Ershad was addressing an Eid reunion programme of Jatiya Party Dhaka North City unit at Banani playground in the capital.
Although Raushan Ershad, senior presidium member of the party, was scheduled to attend the programme, she skipped it.
Terming Jatiya Party the “third force” in the country, Ershad said his party was getting stronger day by day and preparing to go to power in the coming days.
He urged the party leaders and activists to work for strengthening the party.
Jatiya Party Secretary General Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu, presidium members Anisul Islam Mahmud, GM Quader and its Dhaka North City president SM Faisal Chishti, among others, spoke at the reunion.
