A Sainik League Leader was killed in a factional clash between two groups of the organisation at Awami League office in Bogra yesterday.
The deceased’s name was Shimul Haque Rehan.
He was the convener of the new committee of Sainik League in Bogra.
Bogra Police Super (SP) Md Mozammel Haque said Shimul along with some of his followers went to the party office in the district yesterday evening. Shimul had an altercation with Shabuj, the former convener, and his associates there.
A brawl ensued and at one point Shabuj stabbed Shimul with a sharp instrument and injured him critically.
Shimul was rushed to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where the duty doctors declared him dead.
SP Mozammel told the Dhaka Tribune that police arrested Sabuj, the mastermind behind the murder, and four others around 8.15pm.
