A faction of ruling Awami League has rejoiced after the removal of Abdul Latif Siddique from his position as the minister for Posts and Telecommunications.
They on Tuesday set his effigy on fire at the center of the town and also demanded his removal from the presidium member.
The AL faction declared Siddique persona non grata in Tangail.
At a rally in the town, Alid Islam, general secretary of district Jubo league, thanked the prime minister for removing Latif Siddique from the cabinet.
He declared Latif persona non grata in the district.
The city unit Awami League president Sirajul Islam also demanded his expulsion from the party's presidium committee.
