Pro-BNP lawyers have boycotted courts across the country on Monday in protest against the 16th amendment of the constitution through which the parliament acquired the power to impeach judges.
Lawyers of BNP and Jamaat panel of Dhaka Bar Association has also joined the programme.
President of Dhaka Bar Association, MD Mohosin Mia told to the Dhaka tribune that all the leaders of lawyers association met on Saturday at Bar Council Association and took the decision of the boycott.
The amendment is derogatory for court and honorable judges, he added.
However, the layers of Awami League panel rejected the programme and they staged procession protesting the boycott.
Secretary of Awami Youth Lawyers Association, Mahfuzur Rahman Likhon said: "Lawyers of 20-party alliance are observing hartal and boycotted the court. But at the same time they are conducting their own cases in the court."
He terms the attitude as 'double standard'.
A member of Dhaka Bar Association, Mithun Majumber told the Dhaka Tribune that many people have come from far way to take part in their cases at court, but the boycott programme has crated inconveniences to them.
However, he added that he has visited a few courts and has found that most of them are running normally.
