Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya has said Jamaat-e-Isalmi has called the hartal out of joy as they never expected that the SC would commute Sayedee's punishment.
He said: “Jamaat has called the hartal out of joy because war criminal Delawar Hossain Sayedee did not get maximum publishement.”
He made the statement while addressing a rally in front of Awami League's central office at Bangabandhu Avenue on Thursday.
He said the whole nation had accepted maximum punishment for Jamaat top leader Sayedee.
Meanwhile, the leaders and activists of the 14-party alliance also brought out several processions against Jamaat's hartal in different areas of the capital in the morning.
The 24-hour nationwide hartal called by Jamaat protesting the Supreme Court's verdict that sentenced party Nayeb-e-Ameer Sayedee to ‘imprisonment until death,’ is underway peacefully on Thursday.
