Ruling Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif has said the much-talked-about book “1971: Ins and Outs” was not written by AK Khandaker; someone else had written the content and took the signature from him.
The Awami League leader was talking to reporters in front of his residence at Kushtia on Sunday morning.
He said AK Khandaker claimed that he has lost memories slightly due to old age complications, so he cannot recall many things properly.
So Hanif believes that the statements contained in that book are not made by Khandaker.
He further said someone else wrote the words and took his signature.
Hanif said: "The defeated force of '71 cannot tolerate the spirit of liberation war. They have been conspiring all the time to ruin the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh.
"Killing of Bangabandhu was a part of it and the malice created by the book is a mere continuation of that process."
Air Vice Marshal (retd) Khandaker was the deputy chief of army during the war.
He served as the planning minister during the Awami League’s previous tenure. But he did not seek nomination in the January 5 election.
