Chandpur’s Haimchar Upazilla election, which was scheduled to be held on September 7, has been withheld due to flood in the district.
Chandpur Deputy Commissioner Md Ismail Hossain confirmed this to the Dhaka Tribune.
He said the district administration, district election office and police administration visited the flood-hit areas of the upazila on Tuesday.
Later, they recommended the election commission to withhold the election as voters will face problem to reach the polling centres.

Returning officer of Haimchor Upazilla and additional district commissioner of Chandpur, Md Nurullah Nuri, has published a public announcement on withholding of the election.
Earlier, the election was scheduled to be held on February 27, but it was withheld following a writ petition filed by one Raihan Khan in the High Court.
On July 2, the Appellate Division scrapped the petition and set September 7 as the date of election.
