Complaint against Fakhrul for calling Hasina 'a killer'

A defamation complaint has been filed against BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir for his comment in which he termed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina "a killer" and her party Awami League "a party of killers."

SM Nur-e-Alam Siddique, vice-president of Awami Motsojibi League, lodged the complaint with Dhaka's Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Monday morning.

After the hearing, Magistrate Snigdha Rani Chakraborty ordered the officer-in-charge of Paltan police station to take action on the basis on investigation.

Lawyer of the plaintiff Dulal Mitra confirmed the Dhaka Tribune about the filling of the complaint.

In his complaint, the plaintiff stated that Mirza Fakhrul termed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina a killer and her party Awami League a party of killers while addressing in a press conference at party's Nayapaltan office on August 24. Newspapers published Fakhrul's statement the following day.

Fakhrul had defamed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the ruling Awami League through his comment, he mentioned.
