The Dhaka city unit BNP will hold a rally at the National Press Club in the capital at 3pm today, to protest against the government’s move to empower parliament to impeach the Supreme Court judges.
City BNP Convener Mirza Abbas announced this after holding a meeting with the city leaders at the party’s headquarters at Naya Paltan yesterday.
The party on Tuesday announced that they would hold rallies at 15 city points today.
Mirza Abbas explained yesterday that they had decided not to hold rallies at the 15 points because they were yet to get any permission from police. Moreover, the reorganising of the party was still going on.
He said the party would hold a discussion at Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh on August 31 to mark the founding anniversary of the party and on September 1 they would place wreaths at the party founder Ziaur Rahman’s grave.
The BNP leader said they would also observe the party’s Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman and Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s first day of imprisonment on September 3 and 11 respectively.
“We think we have no other option left except waging movement to face these conspiracies.”
