Nasim hits back at Fakhrul over calling PM 'killer'

Bitterly criticising BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir for his recent remark that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is a killer and her outfit is a party of killers, Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim said the statement was beyond the etiquette of politics.

“Making this type of remark is only possible by the secretary general (Fakhrul) of a party that was born under a military dictatorship, occupying the power illegally. The countrymen will reply to this derogative statement,” Nasim said at a press conference held at the 14-party’s Dhanmondi office yesterday.

The minister, also a presidium member of the ruling AL, said the BNP was trying to save the accused, including its Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman, in the August 21 grenade attack cases.

“The investigation in the cases has clearly proved that Tarique, an accused in the cases, led the attacks behind the scene and none will be able to save the culprits involved in the attacks in any way and they must get punishment,” the minister continued.

The presidium member claimed that the BNP has been depressed after failing to muster up any movement against the Awami League.

Some alliance members of the AL-led 14-party were also present in the briefing, among others.
