Selina Islam Beauty, wife of the late NCC councillor Nazrul Islam, has won the by-election for the city corporation's councillor post.
Returning officer of the by-poll and district election officer Tarikuzzaman announced the results on Saturday evening.
Selina bagged 5,266 votes while her nearest contestant Iqbal Hossain got 1,958 votes. Another candidate Masud Rana got 687 votes.
The councillor post of the NCC ward 2 fell vacant with the death of councillor Nazrul Islam, who was abducted along with six other people on April 27 and was subsequently murdered.
