Obaidul criticised 'hybrid leaders' for self-publicity

Communication Minister Obaidul Quader has criticised some of his party leaders terming them as "hybrid leaders" for self-publicity by postering in the name of August 15 mourning.

He said: “Some of the hybrid leaders of the ruling party are engaged in self-publicity by publishing and hanging posters across the country in the name of August 15 mourning. Some of the leaders also hanged the posters inside the secretariat.”

“The posters were published giving the large pictures of the leaders who are public servants while Bangabandhu's small pictures were given on the posters. It was published for self-publicity, not to honour Bangabandhu,” he said.

The minister made the statement while addressing a discussion meeting on August 15 National Mourning Day.

Bangladesh Secretariat Officers and Employees United Council organised the discussion meeting inside the secretariat during the office period from 12:30pm to 3:30pm.

Around 500 officers and employees attended the discussion meeting ignoring official responsibilities.

Public Administration Ministry's Senior Senior Secretary Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, Local Government Division's Senior Secretary Monzur Hossain, Law Secretary Abu Saleh Md Jahirul Haque and Rural Development and Cooperative Secretary MA Quader Sarker attended the discussion meeting as guests.

Slamming for the hanging posters inside the secretariat, Obaidul said: “Secretariat is a public office, not an office of the ruling party. Such activities should be stopped as these breach the service rules.”
