Shamim: Ivy trying to protect someone

Narayanganj Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy is trying to conceal something to save somebody by putting the blame on “godfathers” for seven murders, said Narayanganj 4 lawmaker Shamim Osman.

Shamim Osman gave his statement to the probe body formed under the directives of the High Court yesterday.

He blamed Ivy only a day after her statement given to the same probe body.

Criticising Ivy for her comment which indicated Shamim as godfather the ruling party MP wondered: “How could she relate me with the incident terming me godfather after the confessional statements of RAB-11 members?”

Already RAB-11 members including two or three senior officials have given confessional statement to the courts admitting their involvement in the incident, he said.

He made the statement to the media after around three hours interrogation of seven-member probe body over the seven-murder incident of Narayanganj.

The probe body led by Shahjahan Ali Mollah, additional secretary to the public administration ministry, quizzed Shamim at the secretariat from 11.30am to 2.20pm.

“My statement given within only 30 minutes of the incident proved to be correct. I gave the information to the RAB officials, superintendent of police, deputy commissioner and high officials of the Prime Minister’s Office about the incident as people informed me about the real fact immediately as a public representative. People did not go to law enforcing agency members as they have turned into “predator from protector?”

Shamim termed Ivy ill mannered and corrupt saying that she is still giving such statement against him with an ill motive. She is trying to save somebody. “I have lots of proofs in my hands against her but I don’t want to disclose those to the media.”

Citing the name of Abu Sufian as Ivy’s business partner the MP said he was sure that Sufian was involved in the seven murders. Ivy had a disagreement with councillor Nazrul Islam earlier over a tender which the mayor awarded Sufian in the area of Nazrul.

About the involvement of Nur Hossain, Shamim said: “I think he is somehow involved in the seven murders. But, I am unaware about the matter. I had a conversation with him a day before the dead bodies were recovered. I had given him suggestions as our party leader.”

He also termed the incident of seven murders a conspiracy of those who were trying to create a 1/11 like situation. “And Ivy has a good relation with those people.”

“How all of the dead bodies were identified and recovered from a same place and at the same time?” he questioned. “Nur Hussain must be quizzed. I would bring Nur Hossian back if if I had the power.”

He said: “Everybody is saying Nur was my follower and killed the seven people on my order. But nobody has the proof. Why had Ivy given him important charges of the corporation, if he was to be my follower?”

“The person who leaked the phone conversation between me and Nur must be a member of the law enforcing agency. I can say they were fully aware of Nur’s whereabouts. My question is despite knowing about Nur’s position why did not they arrest him while he was in Gulshan or Dhanmondi?,” he threw a question to the law enforcers.

He said he told everyone that the law enforcing agency members were involved in the abduction within an hour of the incident. “However, I did not tell anything about the killing.”

“I have met Nazrul’s wife and father-in-law and told them the truth and also informed the higher authorities of the local administration about my ideas.”

Shahjahan Ali Mollah told media that they are expecting to submit their probe report within September 9 following the directives of the court. The probe into the incident is now about to end. But the committee may quiz the persons related to the incident, if needed.

He said the probe body might also visit India to quiz Nur Hossain, the prime accused of the incident.
